Posted - 19/06/2009 : 21:29:26 Well I am down to one bike for the first time since about 2001! The FZ has been sold to a colleague and will be heading off to a new home in about a weeks time.
I have really enjoyed owning 'Baby6' as my girls called it and I hope that the new owner enjoys owning her too...
Here are few of my adventures on the old girl:
It all started on a cold December day back in 2006, 216 freezing miles home from Durham after an impulsive ebay session!
 Long cold haul home
The poor weather didn't stop me enjoying the 80's icon
Up at Quattford near Bridgnorth Singing in the rain
The FZ is fun to ride but by mid 2007 the MOT had run out and various time and life pressures meant the old girl got rather forgotton for a while...

So a winter rebuild was needed and new fork seals, a heavily reworked exhaust, a new battery and some fresh oil soon perked the little Yamaha up no end...
She emerges from her slumber
MOT secured the FZ was soon back in it's element once more... back on the road!

More fun ahead
It even got up to Bassetts Pole to hang with all the shiney new superbikes...

Hanging about with the big boys
But the time came to sell, and the FZ is heading off to pastures new. Farewell old friend, you will be fondly remembered.
Right where did I leave that Bike Trader...watch this space!

Posted - 28/07/2009 : 23:42:37 Back in 1982 (27 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) a Honda CB100N was my first road bike:

I did nearly 9000 miles on that little bike and I still have a soft spot for CB100Ns as a result. Good luck with the rebuild. I will drop my Haynes manual over for you take a gander at...yes I still have my original 1982 copy, did you lot expect anything else of me?? |

Posted - 27/07/2009 : 23:36:46 Got myself a Honda CB100 in bits, Will learn a bit about bike mechanics putting it back together and maybe use it after my CBT if I don't have time for direct access. Anyway, don't want to hijack Radars thread. Allegedly he's coming around on Wednesday to reminisce about CB's (I think personally he wants to check up on Baby Six). So if he doesn't laugh too hard at the state of my newest aquisition I might start a new thread and get some help from you lot on the task ahead.
Cheers

Posted - 26/07/2009 : 21:52:17 Welcome Mecanic,
If your legs are shorter then Radars then you must live with 6 other blokes, a pale apple allergic woman and all work down a mine? |

Posted - 26/07/2009 : 18:43:17 We'll, got told off for lurking by the boss the other night, so here I am, the new owner of Baby 6 Radar's FZ.
Three scary facts for you. 1. No I can't ride yet (more scary for me than you) 2. I now own more bikes than Radar !!! 3. Either Radar wears high healed riding boots or his legs are longer than mine!
Cheers

Posted - 25/07/2009 : 00:06:56 I had one last 50 mile ride on the FZ Wednesday, which I hugely enjoyed, before I handed the 'Baby6' over to its' new owner:

All he has to do now is pass his test... |

Posted - 21/07/2009 : 00:48:28 Well another night in the garage to report...
The carbs were a tight fit, but the cables were quickly hooked up and the carbs pushed home
The airbox, which was a s@d to get off in the first place, just didn't want to go back in. The chap who has bought the bike came over to lend me a hand and had the bright idea of loosening off the subframe to give it some more room. This worked a treat...
The airbox went in nice and snug. Then it was back on with all the kit I removed the other night...
Before I finally put it all back together I just hooked up the fuel tank and fired her up...NO LEAK!!!
So back went on the rest of bike and the fairings, so the new owner could have a sit on his new machine...he just has to pass the test now. Any tips on DAS anybody??
I went for a 7 mile run tonight and everything is still ok, so provided the weather holds I will run the bike over to the new owner later this week
Thanks to Andy F and the new owner for the help |

Got to do the right thing by people...its a curse sometimes lol! He is coming over this evening to work on the bike with me |
